I've seen the research mk5 to isolate great, although in the budget you can pick up er2xr for better sound, maybe slightly worse noise isolation, but still great. Noise cancelling is ok as long as I can turn it off, but it seems pointless to pay extra for a feature I won't use. I'd be willing to spend $50 more for the HN-7506 headphones if the isolation really is 33% better.

WebCan't imagine any of my closed-back headphones blocking out a lawn mower. Yes, closed-back headphones isolate noise. Some do better than others. Some open headphones isolate some noise to a certain degree. They've existed for something like 60 years or so yes. Get a DT770, those block out lots of sound.
