I'm not sure for the 231 if you need to swap over the 247 input for tranny - tc connection since he has a 4.7 - but I think it should bolt right up, same for a regular 242. I swapped out my 247 for a 242HD (Out of 02-03 V8 with selec-trac) check out www.car-part.com for one. When selecting a transfer case, there are many factors to consider. First, the only feasible swap is a 231 or 242 from a JEEP, specifically an XJ or ZJ. Dodge transfer cases will not work, and neither will WJ cases. Dodge cases have a different main shaft and tail cone assembly, and WJ cases have no speedometer sensor provision.
