Web15 Aug 2012 · Blue smoke is always oil, that's the easy bit. The harder task is working out why it's being burnt. As Jon has said above, it could be the valve stem seals, or the turbo (less likely as it's only on start up), or less favourably, it could be a piston ring issue (which is worse because of the greater cost involved in working on the block).
